YOUR RACE PACKET WILL CONTAIN:

  • 1 race number
  • Race day instructions, parking instructions and other critical information that will be worth knowing BEFORE RACE DAY (so please pick up your packet at one of the 4 locations above!).
  • A tag with your race number for your clothing bag going to the top

How do I get my t-shirt if I am in the top 100 licensed riders? If you are among the first 100 registered category racers (non-citizen) your t-shirt will be distributed at packet pick up and at the race.

When and how can I register for the race? Online Registration opens February 1st and will close on July 16th or when the race is full. From the website, select the Register Online: GO! button from the homepage. You will be directed to the Active.com registration page. If you do not have a user account set up with Active, you will need to establish one.

Why can't my friend/spouse go to the top? The road is CLOSED from Echo Lake to the top. Only those limited vehicles chosen by the Race Director can travel to the top.
All vehicles try to bring riders down BUT it is strongly suggested to be prepared to ride down to Echo Lake if not the bottom.

Can I have my friend/spouse wait at Echo Lake? Yes but only in legitimate parking spots. See parking map for locations of all parking. If you park in spots that are illegal you will be ticketed. Know the approximate time of the rider you are waiting for and add 30 minutes to come down from the top plus 20 minutes for you to drive to Echo Lake. This cuts down on the number of vehicles just sitting at Echo Lake. HINT: Echo Lake Lodge will be open and has the best apple pie on the planet!

How does my extra clothing get to the top? Look for the clothing vehicles that will be staged at the start. Look for the sign indicating your category. These vehicles leave 15 minutes before the start of the category they are assigned to and go directly to the top. They wait no more than 15 minutes then unload into the "clothing bag area" directly past the finish line in the parking lot. Your clothing will be there for you to pick up. Bags remaining on the top when the sag vehicle arrives will be loaded and brought to the school. The sag comes down around 2:30 ‚ 3:00 p.m. All bags end up at the school and ultimately in the possession of the Race Director.

What do I put in my clothing bag?

A label stating your name, category, and phone number.

Warm clothes to descend in: We recommend considering old clothes so that if for any reason they are lost or misplaced you're not too heartbroken. We offer this service in your best interest we want you to be safe and warm on the way down. But we assume no financial responsibility for lost or missing items.

Are there aid stations? It is strongly recommended to carry at least two water bottles with you. There is an aid station at Echo Lake and an aid station at the top. We do not provide any additional aid stations.

Where do I put Trash? Please put trash in your pockets and deposit it into appropriate trash receptacles. You are riding in a wilderness area so please treat the area with respect. Bar wrappers thrown end up miles away or down in valleys where there is no trash pick-up. Your attention to this is greatly appreciated. We're all good people and need to act that way up here. Any blatant or intentional littering will result in disqualification.

How do I get my results? Our judges/scorers are working at 14,000 ft. and communication with them during the race is extremely difficult. The results process takes time!

Judges score numbers not names so it is critical that you do not to cover your number with anything. If the judges can't read your number you will not be scored. Results crew concentrates on top 25 to get awards and BAR/BAT done quickly. Everyone will get a time and place but patience is a big plus. If you are among the top 25 and there is an error in your finish time or placement, you must protest within 15 minutes of the time you appear on the results. Riders beyond the top 25 in each category will have up to 72 hours after final results have been posted on the race website to protest (which, despite our best efforts, may not be on race day).

NOTICE THE TIME STAMP ON THE RESULTS. This will help you see that you may not be on the results at that time.

KNOW THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF DAY YOU FINISHED. This will help if you do actually end up with a LEGITIMATE protest.

AWARDS CEREMONY AND PRIZE DISTRIBUTION The officials declare the results final in each category. Race promotion staff cannot award any prizes until they are official. Sponsorship means everything to this race. It is greatly appreciated if you are in the top three in your category that you wait for the awards ceremony. Pictures of wining, smiling faces will help to sell this event to future sponsors and keep us running.

If you are in the prizes and need to leave, please check with the Race Director. We can make arrangements to mail merchandise if absolutely necessary, but the cost is on you.
